WORKSHOP 12 APRILE 2024 - Filettatura: confronto tra diverse tecniche industriali e soluzioni digitali
The workshop is organized as part of the CAPP_AI4.0 project funded by EIT Manufacturing.
The pivotal topic addressed will be the comparison of different threading techniques on CNC machines:
- tapping
- rolling
- thread milling
The main characteristics and peculiarities of these techniques will be presented.
The experience includes an on-machine Live Demo; a series of threaded holes will be drilled on a sensorized machine, analyzing their quality, cycle time, and costliness.

WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 24, 2023 - Threading: comparing different industrial techniques and digital solutions

WORKSHOP 10 NOVEMBRE 2023 - Fresatura di stampi di precisione per CELLE A COMBUSTIBILE e LAB-ON-CHIP
The live demo will demonstrate the machining of a mold for injection molding of fuel cell electrodes.
The goals of the day are:
- Choose the appropriate material.
- Select the setup, tools, tool holders, coolant lubrication, and cutting parameters
- Select the CAM strategies suitable for the required processing and process the related reporting
- Verify and optimize and part program through process simulation with Digital Twin of the machine tool
- Performing GD&T audits with Digital Twin
- Understand the benefits of augmented reality and virtual reality in the production environment

ABOVE AND BEYOND - 19th MAY 2023
Above and Beyond (Manufacturing the Future of aerospace) is the title of the speech to be given by Carmelo David Catania (Propulsion Engeneer at SpaceX) on 19 May 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the boardroom of the Department of Mechanics at the Politecnico di Milano (Building B23).
Engineer Catania will share his experience as a Politecnico di Milano alumnus and mechanical engineer working in the aerospace manufacturing field.
At this event, the new master's degree track in mechanical engineering "Green Design and Sustainable Manufacturing" starting in September 2023 will be introduced.
MANIFACTURE TO SURVIVE - 17 MAGGIO 2023
The event, organized in collaboration with Haas Automation, will be held at 10 a.m. in the Council Room of the Department of Mechanics of the Politecnico di Milano (Building B23).
Simon Vanmaekelbergh, Marketing & HTEC Supervisor Europe at Haas Automation, will speak at this event, sharing the beauty and challenge of Manufacturing in the world of Formula 1 and industrial applications.

WORKSHOP 3rd May 2023 - How to reduce cycle time in milling
The live demo will show the machining of a benchmark component and will be accompanied by multidisciplinary talks to show the possibility of optimizing the process by taking advantage of Industry 4.0 techniques.
The goals are:
- Choosing tools, coolants, machining parameters and strategies
- Design the manufacturing cycle by optimizing the tool path by choosing the best CAM strategies
- Verify correct machining of the component and optimize cutting parameters using data obtained from simulation.
PRESENTAZIONE TRACK "GREEN DESIGN AND SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING" - 10 MAGGIO 2023
On 10 May at 12.30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the Department of Mechanics of the Politecnico di Milano (Building B23), the new track of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering starting in September 2023 will be presented.

WORKSHOP 8th MARCH 2023 - Cybersecurity for CNC machines: Challenges and opportunities
The impact of cyber attacks on CNC machine tools nowadays is likely to be more far-reaching than what has been measured in other sectors.
As shown by recent research conducted by TREND MICRO and R.F. Celada, malware can
