LEAN PRODUCTION - 13th JUNE 2023

La produzione snella è un obiettivo possibile: ridurre gli sprechi nei processi produttivi eliminando tutto ciò che utilizza risorse senza aggiungere valore per il cliente.

Here are some tools, topics that will be covered on June 13

  • The use of modern production systems;
  • The introduction of digitization 4.0 into strategic business assets;
  • The review of production planning and control logics, tools and procedures;
  • The improvement of material flows within the plant (intra-logistics) by redesigning the logistics-production system.

This event aims to provide practical advice and direct experience that can be put into practice immediately in one's own business even in light of the benefits provided by new digital technologies.

ABOVE AND BEYOND - 19th MAY 2023

Above and Beyond (Manufacturing the Future of aerospace) is the title of the speech to be given by Carmelo David Catania (Propulsion Engeneer at SpaceX) on 19 May 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the boardroom of the Department of Mechanics at the Politecnico di Milano (Building B23).

Engineer Catania will share his experience as a Politecnico di Milano alumnus and mechanical engineer working in the aerospace manufacturing field.

At this event, the new master's degree track in mechanical engineering "Green Design and Sustainable Manufacturing" starting in September 2023 will be introduced.

MANIFACTURE TO SURVIVE - 17 MAGGIO 2023

At this event, the new master's degree track in mechanical engineering "Green Design and Sustainable Manufacturing" starting in September 2023 will be introduced.

WORKSHOP 3rd May 2023 - How to reduce cycle time in milling

The live demo will show the machining of a benchmark component and will be accompanied by multidisciplinary talks to show the possibility of optimizing the process by taking advantage of Industry 4.0 techniques.

The goals are:

  • Choosing tools, coolants, machining parameters and strategies
  • Design the manufacturing cycle by optimizing the tool path by choosing the best CAM strategies
  • Verify correct machining of the component and optimize cutting parameters using data obtained from simulation.
Innovative teaching tools will be used during the experience. A certificate of participation will also be issued at the end of the event.

PRESENTAZIONE TRACK "GREEN DESIGN AND SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING" - 10 MAGGIO 2023

On 10 May at 12.30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the Department of Mechanics of the Politecnico di Milano (Building B23), the new track of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering starting in September 2023 will be presented.

Massimo Perucca (CEO & Managing Director at Project HUB-360) will speak at the event, presenting the main features of the new track and why to choose it.

The event will be recorded and can be followed remotely on Teams.

WORKSHOP 8th MARCH 2023 - Cybersecurity for CNC machines: Challenges and opportunities

The impact of cyber attacks on CNC machine tools nowadays is likely to be more far-reaching than what has been measured in other sectors.

As shown by recent research conducted by TREND MICRO and R.F. Celada, malware can

  • paralyze entire production networks
  • cause damages to machinery
  • rallentare la produzione.

The workshop organised by R.F. Celada, in partnership with Trend Micro, Fancy Pixel and Ixon Cloud, provides an overview of the different elements that make up the cybersecurity ecosystem: from techniques to counter attacks, to concrete solutions to prevent them.

WORKSHOP 2nd MARCH 2023 - 3D Digital and Cofocal Microscopy

Workshop on 3D digital and confocal microscopy and 3D interferometric scanning systems:

Metrological analysis of any surface with micro, nano, and subnanometer resolution

WORKSHOP 25 NOVEMBER 2022 - DIGITIZATION - Micron milled blanking dies

How to realize a blanking die through a micro milling process respecting the micromeetric tollerances.

The live demonstration of the processing of a blanking mold is accompanied by multidisciplinary presentations showcasing how milling can replace other processes thanks to new digitization techniques.

The objectives are:

  • Choose tools, lubrication, parameters and strategies
  • Design the manufacturing cycle by exploiting the possibilities offered by simulation
  • Design the component verification cycle.

New didactic tools will be showcased in order to increase machininsts' and production managers' experience

WORKSHOP 27th May 2022 DIGITALIZZAZIONE - Is it possible to realize a complex component in one shot?

Development and full implementation of the manufacturing cycle of a 5-axis milled component using advanced digitisation techniques.

The live demo of the machining of a racing component is accompanied by multidisciplinary presentations to show how current digitisation and Industry 4.0 techniques can be used.

The objectives are:

  • Choose tools, lubrication, parameters and strategies
  • Design the manufacturing cycle
  • Design the component verification cycle.

New didactic tools will be showcased in order to increase machininsts' and production managers' experience
